Cross-fibre mobilisation
Cross-Fibre Mobilisation was born out of respect for Tom Bowen the developer of the Bowen technique. It is a gentle non-invasive technique that can be performed through clothing.
Cross-fibre mobilisation is a system of stimulating body reflexes. Specific simple yet precise movements are executed across muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and connective tissue. This gentle contact causes the neuromuscular system to reset all related tension levels promoting natural healing. The cross fibre maneuvers affect the layer of fascia which are close to the body surface, therefore the moves are gentle and do not use deep pressure.
Each sequence of moves is followed by specific timed intervals. A pause of 2-3 minutes is observed in order to allow your muscles integration time, to make changes necessary in your body before commencing with the next sequence of moves.
The moves are safe and can be used on anyone from babies to the elderly. This method is very successful on its own but can also be used as an adjunct to other modalities such as massage or reiki.
Frequency of sessions :
Two or three treatments usually one week apart, results can be seen after the first treatment. Bowen is not an ongoing treatment.
How you might feel after the session :
You might feel sore, or emotional but a few drops of rescue remedy will help your body, mind and spirit to integrate the treatment.
Special advice for after the treatment :
- Avoid heat or cold to areas that have been treated eg. under a hot shower or wheat pack on neck and shoulders
- Avoid sitting for longer than 30 minutes at anytime on the day of your treatments
- Walk as much as possible for the next three days (at least 15 minutes)
- Drink as much water as possible (at least 5 glasses)
Avoid stimulating substances like coffee
